THE PIG, THE JACKAL AND
THE FLOWERS
What can Netanyahu's
trip to Washington DC mean and what can come out of the dealings with his
friend Donald Trump?
By Dany Smith
When someone asks, “What is the animal that eats shit? They usually say “the pig”, but they are wrong because it eats what men give it. The animals we are talking about here are the so-called “political animals”, those that emerge from their societies and are a true reflection of them. There is a class of political animals that really eat shit, they like it and make of it their political capital. Precisely two of them met this past February 2 and this does not bode well.
In the media of the
region and especially in Argentina (Buenos Aires), Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Donald
Trump went under the radar. Not at all. I would rather say that it was covered
very tersely, without stridency and making it as important as possible, given
that there are reasons of power for it. Not to blame them, the media
businessmen and their politicians have had their asses sold for a long time,
and they have been offering it for so long that they have already taken a
liking to it.
The first is that Mr.
Netanyahu has an international arrest warrant over his head for war crimes and
genocide, which means that, even if he enjoys political support and complicity
in the hemisphere, if a malfunction should occur in his plane forcing him to
land at an intermediate airport, someone could order his arrest as soon as he
touches the ground. If something like that were to happen at some stopover,
what would Tel Aviv do, would it send a commando to free him?
Netanyahu arrived in
Washington without problems and met with his great fan, Donald Trump who, as we
already know, is a recalcitrant Zionist and that means very bad news for the
Palestinians and the Arab-Islamic world in general. “Bibi” did not go in search
of peaceful solutions or mediations to end the conflict, he just wants to take
advantage of the tenant of The White House and he knows he can get them What
are the objectives of his visit?
There is no doubt that
the first of all is to obtain support to survive politically in crucial moments
in the Israeli political scenario, since his decision to accept the ceasefire
(which in reality is partial and repeatedly violated) has earned him the
growing opposition of his Talmudic extremist partners and, in turn, has not
stopped the protests and claims of the families of the hostages who have not
yet been released and of those who were killed by IDF fire.
Included in this
objective is the power to circumvent any impartial and serious investigation
into the role it played in triggering October 7, 2023 and the real implications
that its top security officials, especially the head of the Mossad, the Shin
Bet internal security and the head of LAKAM military intelligence, had. There
are many knots in the chain of events of that morning that nobody is sure about
and that the Israelis themselves have been claiming. That brings us to
Netanyahu's clarification of the business dealings he is involved in with
private entrepreneurs to seize and exploit the gas field under the waters just
off the Gaza coast.
The second objective is
to get Trump to involve more resources in the region to try to destroy the
Palestinian resistance, contain (despite controlling the Lebanese army) a
possible resurgence of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and at the same time, to
dupe Riyadh into easing its position that will lead it to sign an agreement
with Tel Aviv. If Netanyahu will achieve that, the situation of the
Palestinians would worsen since, as we saw and continue to see, Israel will be
able to restart the war to exterminate them definitively with the purpose -among
others- of annexing the Gaza Strip and turning it into a new lot for Jewish
settlements with imported settlers.
If this were so, it
would mean that Netanyahu is not interested in the fate of the remaining
hostages and even, according to his already known way of reasoning, more deaths
involving Israelis would serve him to perpetuate himself in power although with
a serious risk of greater internal divisions.
For the time being, the
reality is what marks the situation in the area and it stands out for the
constant violation of the ceasefire by the Israeli forces and their settlers
who have extended their crimes to the West Bank where they have already
committed new massacres in Jenin, Tulkarem and surrounding villages without (as
we are accustomed to) the United Nations pronouncing itself on the matter.
Knowing of these real
intentions and that his known surreptitious maneuvers to manipulate the opinion
of his own and with the obvious intention of doing so with Trump, there are
sources that report that some relatives of the hostages also traveled to
Washington DC, but they did it on their own because when they asked the
government, Netanyahu himself denied them the possibility of it. If this is
true, what does Netanyahu and his entourage want to hide?
The answer is very
obvious and has nothing to do with seeking a permanent ceasefire, negotiating
the release of all the remaining hostages or working for a real and lasting
peace. These relatives and the opponents in the Knesset are convinced of his
plans and they are only aimed at pleasing the religious extremists who support
him.
That is why we cannot
expect anything positive from this meeting and even if a document were to come
out of this event we should be suspicious and not give credence to what is said
there.
