BAD NEWS FOR PEACE
Why should the citizens
of the United States, let alone the world, get a head start on celebrating the
return of another Republican administration led by Donald Trump?
By Sidney Hey
When people plunge into crisis they will look
for salvation in strong leadership. The problem is not strong leaderships but
the leaders that people believe they elect, believing them to be strong. The people
are not wrong, if they elect certain people as their leaders it is because they
consider it convenient, from then on if they fail and everything goes wrong it
falls within their responsibilities.
Trump has won with more than 72 million votes,
there is no doubt that Americans have opted for his leadership, so they are
fully aware and responsible for what they have chosen and its consequences.
Nor have the liberals and the scholars of a
democracy that has not existed for a long time won with Trump. Whoever believes
this is not only ignorant of the American reality but is a real idiot, as we
could see in some obsequious political and governmental figures in South
America such as the Zionists Javier Milei and Jair Bolsonaro.
But don't be fooled. Trump didn't win because
of his promises to end the war in Ukraine or stop the genocide in Palestine,
forget it! It was the votes of deep-country Americans, those rural, blue-collar
and grey-collar workers in the big cities who can barely pay their taxes, high
food prices, rent and a cost of living that the political class doesn't suffer.
That is the America that elected Trump, not the Democratic elite of plutocrats,
charlatans and snobs more tied to the Hollywood artist community and the music
industry than the problems of mortals.
Even Latino immigrants, Asians and a portion of
Muslims voted for Trump. Although he detests them and has said all sorts of
insults against them, these unfortunates who have migrated to the land of alleged
liberty and opportunity are forced by convenience and necessity to kiss the
hand of their tormentor.
The funding of the calamities of war in Ukraine
may have a pause, but it will surely be for stratagems rather than a sincere
pursuit of peace with Russia. The same with the support for Israel and its
ambitious plan to try to destroy the Republic of Iran, cleanse the Gaza Strip
of Palestinians and try to capture southern Lebanon. Because as someone in
Washington would say, ‘It's the deep state stupid!’
Who is celebrating Trump's victory? There is no
doubt that those applauding in the front row are the neo-conservatives and
their good Zionist partners (especially those of AIPAC) who see in him and his
team the unmissable opportunity to plunge the US headlong into an all-out war
in the Middle East and all... for Israel. This is where the American citizen
wakes up and sees in time that he will continue to be the one who pays for
these plans.
Ohio Senator J. D. Vance, a perfect exponent of
the typical ultramontane Christian Zionist and very functional in the
hemisphere for Israel. Perhaps that is why Trump put aside past quarrels and
insults to focus on making common cause at a time when the interests behind
them need them.
Linked to this who are also on a roll are the
‘defence’ corporations of the Military Industrial Complex, those warmongering
oligarchs or let's call them what they are: Arms dealers. And it is not only
the Americans and their European partners who are (curiously) celebrating, but
also the Israeli businessmen, the biggest dealers in weapons of all kinds,
implements of torture and systems of repression that any police state could
wish for.
Some are ruminating that senile old Biden
might, before he leaves the White House, make several bulk arms shipments to
the neo-Nazi junta in Kiev, but don't you think Russia is expecting such a
move? There is no need for Biden to order such a move as Trump will continue
with the Zelensky support agenda and Moscow is well aware of this. Those
dispatches that will surely be sent using triangulated ports as soon as they
arrive in Odessa will be shattered by hypersonic missiles and they know that
very well in Washington.
Even the pitiful obsequious governments of
emerging countries such as Argentina have expressed their joy and most effusive
sympathy for this triumph. To such a degree does the obsequiousness of the
Milei government reach that its officials, as a way of praising Donald Trump,
wore blue suits, white shirts and red ties. But very real. Apparently this
government has the strange belief that with these signs they are going to
receive the monetary aid they are begging for with every administration that
arrives at the Casa Rosada.
Speaking of serious matters where life and
death are involved, the Trump administration brings many uncertainties and
great dangers, especially for those who are not in tune with the policies of
the White House. On the trade front, it has already been made clear that Trump
will apply a total and very aggressive protectionism that will be especially
focused on shutting down the economy, putting obstacles in the way of imports
and, as he has already hinted, passing NAFTA up his ass.
But if there is a priority and strategic
objective for the incoming administration (in addition to seeking to destroy
the Republic of Iran) it is to screw up China's trade and most likely seek to
destabilise the BRICS+, thus making it clear that the Trump administration's
strategy will be a combination of confrontation at the commercial level without
leaving aside military options.
