"A WOUND CALL IRAQ"
How 25 years after the Gulf War, that marked the beginning of a reality of instability and horror that has no pause
By Charles H. Slim and Javier B. Dal
It has been more than clear that both in
life and in politics no one can escape the consequences of their actions. If you doubt that the case of Iraq, is one of
those cases. We could say without error to mistake that the suffering of this
ancient village remains a festering result and very uncomfortable for
Washington. Do not forget that Saddam Hussein and the Baath party and close
associates were allies of Washington during the decades of the seventies and
eighties all, something that usually to forget Anglo-Saxon revisionists and the
neocons conspicuous means. That was how, when he no longer served more for
their purposes were eliminated. They have 25 years of that well planned and
early military adventure which brought together about thirty-one navies of the
world after US forces aligned planted the disaster at the last Arab country.
Despite the loss suffered horrific suffering, the tragedy for Iraq had just
begun.
After thirteen years of shameful and
ruthless policy of embargo, Washington felt it was time according to the
schedules that had laid their Think Tanks- to give Iraq the "coup de
grace" and eliminate it as a sovereign state. To do so, the appellants
arguments concerning the "tyrant Saddam," "the weapons of mass
destruction" and the ridiculous links Baghdad with "Al Qaeda" at
11 / S, began to be bombarded by the Anglo-Saxon media apparatus essential part
machinery Pentagon psychological warfare and federal intelligence agencies like
the CIA. You could see then, that despite the pressures and influences exerted
Washington in organizations like the United Nations and the Commission
inspectors of WMD by Hans Blix (v. Http://elpais.com/ daily / 2002/12/17 /
international / 1040079613_850215.html) was very difficult for Americans to
argue with solid and convincing evidence of the alleged malevolence
"Saddam and his regime". Similarly, unilateralism and violence were
imposed by false evidence and dirty propaganda.
To argue the "benefits" of a
removal of Saddam and his government, it was said that Americans would come
walking without resistance and even Iraqi citizens, especially the south-
Shiites would launch them flowers and they will kiss the cheeks. Sometimes when
listening to such comments, one could wonder can be so naive to believe an
American congressman such a story? Or could they even ordinary citizens
Americans believe such a hypothesis? No doubt that these versions that mass
media amplified in time and size, were far from the reality of what was
happening in Iraq before the military occupation. Thousands of children died
for lack of medicine, food and poisons that had left their weapons on the
ground in the continuous bombings of 1991 and which continued to develop
throughout the period of the embargo. The policy bloody bombs and death was not
only a push of the "Bush" or "Republicans"; It was also, and
to a degree quite pitiless- a policy followed by Democrats led by Bill Clinton
deconstructed and lewd and his government, who did not hesitate in ordering
bombings of Baghdad and other urban centers to divert attention from their
"sexual affairs" with Lewinsky intern.
With this background, believe that Iraqis
would see some good in the US, it is certainly a boyish look. In the aftermath
of invasion from the White House and in the media spoke of
"liberation" and that the main beneficiaries of this would be the
Shiite and Kurdish minorities. We just need to wait for the first American tank
set foot on Iraqi soil for the government and much later the American people to
realize how much they wanted Iraqis. Some chronic battle group consisting of
civilian volunteers who were trained to defend the homeland of this aggression,
described as by the most varied tactics, they managed to undo platoons of
Marines who believed that resistance would not exist.
That adventure that George W. Bush and his
supporters called "Operation Iraqi Freedom" became an endless
slaughter seemed endless. Beyond the price never recognized by officialdom in
Washington and abetted by the Anglo-Saxon media machine, the brutal landing
with ambitions to establish a puppet regime in charge of the dirtiest tasks
that had to face the invaders did, failed from the first instant. In spite of
that the first and presumable successful raids of Americans on Baghdad made
them believe they had done with the full control of the country were very few
who wanted to bring to light, evidence and traces that something strange was He
is beginning to take shape as soon as their boots trod territory.
Embarrassed and even confused, US
mechanized units and British royal marines ran into fortifications that
appearances were willing to fight, but as soon decided they were assaulting
found that in addition to being empty, riddled with booby traps. The same about
thousands of commands the Republican Guard that went up in smoke on the
outskirts of Baghdad and they let the Americans before being ambushed by
endless siege groups besides being persistent and very motivated, they had no
uniforms. It was undoubtedly the first sign of the beginning of a fierce armed
resistance that did not distinguish between Sunnis, Shiites and Christians.

This particular point is important to
emphasize since, those who still seek to argue some semblance of legality to
this great global crime that armed resistance occurred because of the measures
implemented by the puppet authorities placed by the civil administration
occupant speak by Paul Bremer, who also proved deeply corrupt brutal with his
own brothers. These "researchers" often argue that, by Saddam's army
had dissolved and banned the Baath Party, thousands of "men without
pay" without ideals, were the reasons that gave birth to the resistance
groups (v. Perry Cammack associate in the Middle East Program at the Carnegie
Endowment for International Peace). Simply inaccurate besides these arguments are false.
And precisely one of the best arguments to counter those misleading assumptions
are based on that besides brute force, the occupants spent millions of dollars
to buy the most important Iraqi army officers.
According to the study of some researchers
as Cammack, they made public that Washington spending on the Iraq fiasco
nothing more and nothing less than a whopping "three trillion
dollars", many of which-is that you need
remark- were to the bags of US military officers, CIA agents and
collaborationist thugs working for them. At this point where it can be seen
that the US led Iraq one of the innate qualities to its system of government
and that is nothing more and nothing less than corruption.
They were undoubtedly years terrible for
Iraqis, but were even more intolerable for the invaders who, beyond the
propaganda media such as CNN, FOX NEWS and others who were trying to paint a
fictional reality on "a new and prosperous Iraq" there was a
continuing wave of arrests, killings, attacks very strange, all under the
protection of US troops who controlled the key points of the country. And if
that was not enough, there was a network of kidnapping and prostitution of
Iraqi women administered by US troops
who, together with contractor personnel services operating across the country,
made the rounds without there being law can to protect these women (.v.

Another running tactics that put both the
Americans and British hired thugs, was simply taking a high position on the
outskirts of a town and the disposal of thousands of ammunition, shoot
indiscriminately at anything that moved. According to intelligence sources at
the time, that was part of one of the first phases of psychological warfare to
keep terrorizing civilians and in many cases, by killing a passerby, blaming
deliberate insurgent fire.
Undoubtedly, as pointed out by researchers
and critical analysts of achievements against Iraq, which was perpetrated
against Iraq and all the lies about "democracy" and
"freedom" has just been a great fiasco of US policies, without
distinction between Republicans or Democrats these days is crowned with the
suspicious and sudden appearance of the "Islamic State of Iraq and
Sham" (ISIS) in the midst of the revolutionary process of oppressed
populations northwest among other claims, are the banishing government
corruption led by the collaborationist den Baghdad.
Although both squandering of military
force, the assembly of a scaffold sinister struggle "against
insurgent" which included, torture, abuse, rape, murder and eliminations-
prepared and executed by the then General David Petraeus and Cia still is not
achieved calculate what cost, resistance is never stopped. When the Americans
withdrew, they left the repressive forces of "Al Maliki" who -under
the military advice and discreet elements of the CIA continued the dirty work
of their American masters. In short, Iraqis received nothing positive; and
certainly nothing good can come from an invasion and a bloody occupation that
cost this town more than a million and a half people dead and missing. Will
there be any day in the United States a critical trial for these crimes?
