PLAYING BLIND
The Western media omit
the reality of the facts on the ground in Ukraine that explain one of the latest
crimes of the Kiev regime with NATO complicity in Kherson
By Sidney Hey
Last Tuesday's blowing up of the Nova Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro River in the Kherson region not only caused an environmental catastrophe affecting the lives of more than twenty thousand inhabitants, but also demonstrated NATO's cynicism and desperation in an attempt to pave the way for a Ukrainian counter-offensive.
At the time of the
explosion, the facilities were under Russian control, so the Atlanticist
version that it was a Russian act makes little sense and lacks logic.
Similarly, so far in the war, similar events have been cleared up in which
(despite accusations and speculation) Russia had nothing to do with (such as
the missiles over Poland, missiles hitting buildings in Kiev, the massacre in
Kramatorsk, the blowing up of Nord Stream, the executions in Bucha, etc.).
The declamations in the
Western media about the righteousness of the Kiev regime in its crusade against
Russia are as false as that allegory of a war “against evil” as recurrently and
simply shown in the past by leaders such as George W. Bush to justify the
so-called “fight against terrorism” (which involved the creation of an infinity
of evils) and certain American intellectuals when telling about the causes of
the Second World War.
But we know that in
times of war these allegations are pure propaganda. Now, following a rather
twisted reasoning, the Western media did not hesitate to accuse Russia of the
fact. Still fresh and unexplained is another terrorist attack committed on 26
September 2023 with serious environmental consequences on the Baltic Sea as the
blowing up of the Nord Stream I and II gas pipeline. Did anyone believe the
fantastic story of a Ukrainian rebel group (which was never found) using a
sports boat carrying explosives to carry out this attack?
To this day the
collective Western press is making an impressive effort to try to keep
Washington out of the picture on this issue, even if this is quite difficult to
achieve. Perhaps, knowing that it is impossible to continue covering this up,
these same media are already starting to talk about “collapse” and not attack.
Now, to come to the
point of blowing up this dam, if we give this assumption a glimpse of
attention, what does Russia gain from this? On the contrary, it complicates its
defensive positions and distracts its forces from evacuating civilians. Let us
recall that as early as last year, the Russian representative to the UN Vassily
Nebenzia denounced Kiev's continuous attempts to destroy the Kakhovka
hydroelectric power plant.
Even if for some reason
it was useful to flood the site, simply opening the dam's sluice gates would
have been enough. This is in response to the wild assumptions of US analysts
and pundits that this is in Russia's interest.
In terms of economic
damage, the flooding will spoil grain crops destined for the Middle East,
creating a new food crisis chain that can only be alleviated by another source
of supply, which could well come from South American countries, providing an
opportunity for their economies.
If we look now from the
Ukrainian angle, we will see something very interesting that the Western media
have not shown and will not show. The dam not only provides electricity, it is
also one of the most important sources of drinking water for the population of
the Crimean peninsula. But it is also a source of water for cooling the reactors
of the Zaporiye nuclear power plant. If we look at the harmful logic of the
extremist groups in Azov led by foreign advisors, harming the Crimeans by
depriving them of a vital resource such as water is a further demonstration
that they do not care about the lives of the Crimeans, even though it is
classified as a war crime.
But this is just
another episode in the costly hybrid war that Washington and its Atlanticist
allies (financed by tax money) are waging against Russia and a desperate
reaction to the failed counter-offensives of the last few days.
In the face of this,
the brains in Washington are planning to try to ruin one of the achievements of
multilateralism in the global south by dismembering the BRICS. If that happens,
it will mean extending the war to other jurisdictions. Fortunately for its
members, they already know who will be responsible for possible sabotage,
hindrances and setbacks to the economic and trade policies of their respective
countries, and it will clearly not be Russia.
The hand of
Anglo-American democracy is like an iron fist in a silk glove. Even lending you
a helping hand hurts you.
That is the logic that
their ultra-right-wing Ukrainian henchmen are using to try to turn the
situation on the Donbass front. There is nothing merciful, let alone respect
for the lives of innocents, in this kind of actions that they have already
executed in the past. Why should it be surprising that the Ukrainians have
blown up the dam if they have been killing their own Russian-speaking fellow
citizens for eight years now?
