STRATEGIC FILTER

Why is it that the Zionist bases discovered on Iraqi territory come as no surprise, and why are they unlikely to be the only ones, and why does this point to the dire state of the country in the face of Zionist infiltration?

By Ali Al Najafi

Two months ago, a group of shepherds stumbled upon a strange installation by chance in a desert area north of Anbar and southwest of Najaf. After investigating, it was determined that the intruders were of Israeli origin. In mid-May, similar installations were discovered again. The discovery was preceded by other witnesses who saw them first and were killed by personnel at those facilities. The attempt to silence the presence of these intruders failed, and as soon as the Ministry of Interior (MOI) وزارة الداخلية العراقية was notified, the news spread like wildfire and soon reached the ears of Moqawamma representatives, who wasted no time in conducting a reconnaissance of the area.

This is not the first time the Zionists have infiltrated Iraqi territory. At the height of the occupation, the resistance discovered a base on the outskirts of Haditha where Israelis and Americans were operating. Also, at that time Mossad members were present and participating in torture sessions inside Abu Ghraib complex, and right in the heart of Baghdad, operating cells to plant bombs in mosques and markets specially in Shiite neighborhoods.

The discovery served as a stark reminder of the structural fracture and state of weakness —deliberately imposed— on the Republic of Iraq, as well as the utter defenselessness into which it has been driven by government officials. As evidence of this reality, it was confirmed that there were at least two bases with Israeli personnel and equipment that had been established several months ago to operate against Iran. The existence of these bases does not mean that there are not now others that are much better concealed, or even bases of the AMAN military intelligence and the Mossad set up right under the noses of the ineffective and corrupt government services in the heart of Baghdad.

In reality, ever since the americans and their british partners invaded the country in 2003, the israelis were able to enter (and, among other dirty deeds) to weave their own networks of informants in a country that was bleeding to death, where recruiting angry citizens thirsty for revenge against Saddam and desperate in the face of an uncertain future made it very easy for these teams to buy people’s allegiance for about two hundred dollars. In those dark days under occupation, when death walked calmly through the streets, Israeli cells settled comfortably into apartments in Baghdad to coordinate various terrorist attacks and assassinations, and even had the audacity to attempt to do so in Karbala and Basra as a demonstration of their complete lack of scruples and any sense of morality.  Since then, Kurdistan has become their refuge, and the Israeli and American bases there have been the target of continuous attacks by the right-wing and hardline legendary groups as Kataib Hezbollah Brigades and Harakat Al Nujaba.

Today, there are no distinctions between Shiites and Sunnis regarding the country’s widespread corruption, which allows criminal mafias of all kinds to operate unhindered. That is why many of them also realize that, despite who Saddam Hussein and the Baath Party were, this did not happen during his rule. However, the establishment of a political system co-opted and controlled from Washington and then shared with the Iranians has led to the degradation of the leadership ranks—not to mention public officials—turning Iraq into an empty shell where, due to the influence of criminal mafias, anything can happen.

Here, the placement of Shiite parties to control strategic sectors (security, the armed forces, and intelligence) has served the interests of the United States and Iran, but never those of the Iraqis. Added to this, corruption, abuses, and brutality stemming from sectarian policies have served to maintain this controlled, yet low-intensity chaos that keeps the population divided. Given this, it was inevitable that the Israelis who make use of those elements swarming amid the chaos would take advantage of the situation to make their own moves. The door is open, and the enemy holds the key.

It wasn’t necessary for the Americans to be aware of these enclaves. It is well known that Tel Aviv uses the Americans for its own ends and has, on many occasions, even gone over their heads to achieve its goals.

The truth is that (and beyond what has been said), the Zionists did not reach the desert near the holy city of Najaf without a set of circumstances that allowed them to do so. Since the groups affiliated with “Al Q`aida” (created by the CIA) arrived in Damascus in 2024 and the brutal regime of Mohammad Al Jolani, supported by Washington, took hold, the Israelis, in addition to seizing large swaths of Syrian territory, have created open routes (land and air) to the east that allow them to cross a porous border with Iraq, including the one bordering Saudi Arabia.

But beyond this explanation, how could they have possibly transported tons of material—enough to even build airstrips? The answer is neither mysterious nor anything of the sort, and it is implicit in what was stated above. There is a combination of factors that have facilitated this situation, and the U.S. is the key player in it.

In both Iraq and Syria, it was the Americans who, after years of covertly establishing and implementing a dirty war strategy rooted in the doctrine of controlled chaos—through the creation and infiltration of pseudo-Islamic fronts such as the criminal groups “Islamic State” (Daesh), “Jabhat al-Nusra” (funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar), and their latest poisonous offshoot “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” (HTS) true perpetrators of shirk by serving the evil and deceptive purposes of the enemy tore societies apart and destroyed infrastructure and systems in each of these countries.

It is the sum of all these calamities, both external and internal, that has turned Iraq today into a veritable sieve, a platform serving the most sworn enemies of the Islamic cause in order to keep the Islamic Republic of Iran within striking distance.
