POISONED TRUCE
How much credibility can there be in the sudden clamour of those willing to agree to a ceasefire?
By Sir Charlattam
Suddenly, the warmongering rhetoric of the European members of the ‘willing group’ (an operetta concocted with Washington) has died down. Why? Before answering this question, let us clarify who the members of this group are and their importance in the hostilities in Ukraine. We are talking about Great Britain, France, Germany, Belgium and their Eastern minions such as Poland and the Baltic countries, who define themselves as ‘liberal democracies’ but in fact act like expansionist totalitarian regimes.
In reality, this has not changed at all since 1989.
The colonialist spirit of this branch of the collective West (particularly
after Johnson's Brexit) has always been latent and ready to strike against
Russia. Confidence in achieving this was based on the skills acquired in the
dirty operations carried out in the shadow of the CIA since 2010 in North
Africa, known as the ‘Arab Spring’. David Cameron, advised by William Hague to
follow in the footsteps of the witch Hillary Clinton, confident in these
successes and continuing to operate in Syria, believed that he could bring
Britain back into the big leagues and annoy the Great Bear. His moment came,
and following the plan laid out by the Obama-Biden administration in 2013,
while Victoria Nuland and embassy staff handed out bread to Ukrainians on the
streets of Kiev, intelligence agencies (including MI6) provided cover and
support to Ukrainian neo-Nazi and flag-waving gangs, bringing about the February
2014 coup d'état, and from there we know the rest.
These are the components of the ‘collective West’,
who, through NATO, after recruiting an actor like Volodymyr Zelensky who would
open the door for them to deploy their infrastructure at the gates of the
Russian Federation, would support him. Let us not forget the British merit in
this, as it was Boris Johnson who gave the green light to recruit this
vaudeville comedian from the typical Hurly Burly. At this point (and as always
happens), that support has ended and, contrary to what they had been doing
until just a few weeks ago, they still want a ceasefire, even though their
puppet says otherwise.
Trump's 28-point plan is a creation made without the
participation of the State Department, let alone the ‘willing’ European boys,
which, as expected, sparked a wave of controversy. Even within his own
administration, Trump has very critical voices from militant Russophobes who
are burning with anger because they did not expect this. One of them, if not
the main one, is Marco Rubio, who must have choked when he learned of the
secret meeting between Wilkoff and Dmitriev to literally hand Zelensky over
with a bow.
But beyond these intrigues among partners, the reality
of the battlefield prevails, and not to the benefit of the Kiev regime. Some
military analysts already take for granted the imminent collapse of the
Ukrainian army, even as neo-Nazi and far-right battalions hysterically proclaim
that ‘no one will surrender.’ Added to this is the fall from grace of several
officials close to Zelensky involved in monumental embezzlement and the great
unpopularity he has earned by kidnapping men to send them to a front where
death awaits them.
The situation is so dire that even those who were
‘willing’ (especially Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron), after realising
that dirty tricks are not enough to unbalance Moscow, have made a 180-degree
turn from their previous warmongering position to support an early ceasefire.
Have they suddenly become pacifists or concerned about the lives of Ukrainians?
Not at all, they need an urgent pause. They have realised that the Russians are
advancing faster than they expected and, although they detest Donald Trump, his
draft plan would be convenient as it could temporarily halt the hostilities and
allow the battered Ukrainian forces to regroup.
But this interested and very false search for sudden
peace does not seem to move Trump himself. Why? Simply because he knows that
the price to pay for continuing hostilities would be so counterproductive and
humiliating that it would destroy him politically and, with it, any chance of
remaining in the White House. Continuing to bet on the losing horse is not a
smart move, and he knows it very well. Trump is aware of this because of what
happened in Afghanistan with the chaotic withdrawal of US troops in September
2021, broadcast live around the world, which cost Joe Biden his career.
Trump may say many stupid things with his big mouth,
but the remarks made just a few hours ago by Italian Admiral Giuseppe Cavo
Dragone on behalf of NATO have gone far beyond the usual irresponsible and
stupid statements made by the US president. Let us not fool ourselves, however,
this is just a desperate provocation by Dragone's superiors who are looking for
Moscow to make a mistake.
Beyond these manoeuvres, it is clear that Trump is
well informed about the situation on the ground and Zelensky's dubious
legitimacy to represent Ukraine in serious negotiations. Vladimir Putin
realised long ago the trick hidden in a possible negotiation with a man who
holds de facto power. Added to this, Trump is very interested in gaining
control of Venezuela, either through threats to Nicolás Maduro or through the
use of force in whatever form he deems appropriate. The entire navy mobilised
and the fighter-bombers deployed in El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago are not
a cost-free investment. This requires funding that cannot be squandered on a
lost cause such as Ukraine. Furthermore, he is well aware that Vladimir Putin
has the political will and the capacity to exercise the strategic military
muscle represented by the nuclear triad.
